Formål

The Center for Connected Care (C3) was a center for research-based innovation working over a period of eight years to develop methods and tools to support person-centered care in Norway. In particular, C3 was focused on informing the design, development and evaluation of innovation amid the transition within the Norwegian healthcare system from centralized care in hospitalized clinics and communities to decentralized care in clinics and communities. C3 was led by Oslo University Hospital and involved collaboration between a number of hospitals, municipalities, universities, health technology companies and other healthcare related businesses. Within C3, AHO led research around the development of new design methodologies for person-centered care. This involved pioneering work related to: embedding design labs in hospitals, developing design approaches that acknowledge many logics of care, illuminating relational design approaches for healthcare, enhancing implementation and using tangible tools to support collaboration.

Prosjektbeskrivelse

The Centre for Connected Care (C3) aims to accelerate adoption and diffusion of patient-centric innovations that change patient pathways and delivery systems, empower the patients and increase growth in the healthcare industry. The ambition is to bring together different stakeholders to research and co-develop new knowledge, infrastructure and healthcare services. C3 holds a status of Centres for Research-based Innovation (SFI) supported by The Research Council of Norway and will run for 8 years starting in Q4 2015. The main objective for the SFIs is to enhance the capability of the business sector to innovate by focusing on long-term research based on forging close alliances between research-intensive enterprises and prominent research groups. Oslo University Hospital (centre host) and Akershus University Hospital, Skedsmo, Larvik and Oslo municipality with four of its quarters (covering 55 % of all patients treatments in Norway) will provide the overall context of the C3- centre. C3 is divided into three major themes that connect to develop innovative processes, services, technologies and organisations:

Theme 1: Patient-centric healthcare delivery empowering the patient.

Theme 2: Innovative infrastructure and interoperability.

Theme 3: Commercialisation, adoption and diffusion.
