Who are we?
AHO offers education within the academic fields of architecture, design, landscape architecture, and urbanism. Urban environments, parks and green spaces, the things people use, or the services they need, are among the subjects you can study here. Our students are committed to a sustainable future, with climate and environment, diversity and inclusion, as well as reuse and transformation being key themes at the school.
The school has an open, creative, and vibrant student community shaped by a range of voices and approaches. We are not looking for just one way of thinking, being, or exploring the world.

Where are we?
AHO is located in the heart of Oslo. Aker river, Grünerløkka, old industrial buildings, and modern urban areas are all nearby, with buses stopping right outside the door.

How do we teach?
At AHO, most teaching takes place in our workshops, on study trips, and at the desk alongside teachers and fellow students. With a low student-to-teacher ratio and collaborative project work, you receive personalised guidance and plenty of opportunities to connect with your peers.
Several of our academic staff also maintain their own professional practices, and AHO engages numerous external specialists and practising professionals as instructors.
We place a strong emphasis on research, which enriches our teaching. Research-based teaching and teaching-based research are integral to all our programmes.
Student exhibitions
Each semester, the school hosts an exhibition showcasing projects that students have worked on. This is a chance for students to display their work for friends, family, and future employers. Throughout the academic year, AHO’s gallery presents several exhibitions of ongoing student projects.

Our workshops
AHO boasts eight outstanding workshops, each led by a skilled workshop manager. We offer a wood workshop, metal workshop, plastics workshop, light engineering workshop, 3D printing workshop, and a construction hall. In addition, we have a print shop, and a photography studio.
The library
The library is located on the ground floor, with spaces overlooking the Aker river. We house an extensive collection relevant to our subject areas.
Study trips and exchange
Every semester, students have the opportunity to go on a study trip. These trips take place both within the country and abroad and form an important part of both our curriculum and social life.
Master's level students can opt for an exchange abroad for one or two semesters. AHO has agreements with institutions around the world, all of which are approved to ensure that you receive an education of the same high quality as you do here.

Student community
Being a student offers much more than just academic work. The campus is bright and airy, our classes are small, and the facilities are of high quality.
Everything is set up to foster a great social environment. Numerous social activities organised by the students themselves help everyone get to know each other quickly.
