Bakgrunn og erfaring
I am a researcher at the Ocean Industries Concept Lab. I have a PhD in design from AHO on "Human-centred, collaborative, field-driven ship design".
Before joining AHO, I have worked with ship design and operation projects for over 7 years in an international consultancy company. I have also worked with innovation and human-centred design in ocean grassroots projects such as “Protei – Open source sailing drones” and “The urban floating farmers association”. I am a graduate of the University of Bordeaux (France), the University of Southampton (UK), and the University Centre of the Westfjords (Iceland) respectively in Numerical modeling, Maritime engineering sciences, and Coastal and marine resources management.
Ansvarsområder
At the Ocean industries concept lab I am responsible for building, establishing and managing research projects. That includes writing funding applications, finding partners, organising project activities, and conducting research activities. I also contribute to student and PhD supervising.
Undervisning
I have experience with teaching a module on the use of field study methodology in design processes. I help students doing field studies on a case by case basis.
Forskning
In my research I work with the design of safe and efficient workplaces in the ocean and maritime industries. How to integrate new technologies, new modes of operations? How to improve the current experiences of the users of these workplaces? How to support the work of the people designing these workplaces?
I have applied this research in contexts such as the use of augmented reality to support navigation tasks (OpenAR), the use of virtual reality to support collaborative design processes (OpenVR), the use of remote technology to support autonomous operations (OpenRemote), and the use of feedback technology to support decision making on ships (OpenZero).
