  Monica T. Reitan and Ole-Robert Reitan had a plan to a bring world-class modern art to Trondheim. In the former post office building, in the heart of Trondheim, the doors opened in February 2025 to a completely new cultural arena, PoMo. In addition to the founders' story told to Agnes Moxnes, the book contains a comprehensive text by architect Erik F. Langdalen about the Art Nouveau building's complicated transformation from post office and office building to a contemporary modern museum building. Dan Thawley conveys the French-Iranian architect India Mahdavi's colorful interior philosophy, while artist and author Matias Faldbakken fantasizes about post offices then and now, with Giovanni Piranesi (1720-1778) as the focal point. Artist Eline Mugaas contributes with the photo essay "Posthus mortem."The work is richly illustrated with historical and new photographs. A content-rich gift book for everyone interested in art and culture.

  The Embassy is a project that transforms the former US Embassy in Norway. The project was originally designed by the American architect Eero Saarinen, as one of only three buildings in Europe. The building is both restored and adapted to new use with a large new addition under the building.

  A Civic/Institutional Design Award of Excellence is given for the restoration and adaptive reuse of the former U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway. This 1959 chancery, designed by Eero Saarinen, is a significant example of postwar Modernist architecture, embodying American values during the Cold War. Saarinen's striking design, particularly the precast concrete facades, was a technological first for Norway. Over decades, the façades had faded and deteriorated. The preservation team treated damaged areas, and the entire surface was buffed by hand, restoring the original sheen. An underground extension and a discreet rooftop addition were added to meet current needs without altering the building’s external appearance. Landmarked interiors, including the atrium and ambassador's office, were restored with sustainable materials while retaining character defining features. The U.S. State Department has been decommissioning and selling off its Modernist embassies, and many are being demolished, gutted or altered beyond recognition. Docomomo US has long advocated for preservation of these buildings, many of which are highly significant. This project is a rare example of an entire embassy building being saved and carefully restored.

  This exhibition explores the material provenance of Kunstnernes hus through investigations of building materials, technical infrastructure, lighting, maintenance systems, exhibition armature and more. Through archival studies and on-site surveys, 15 students from The Oslo School of Architecture and Design have excavated the production history, sourcing, economy, usage, ownership history, and alteration records of the building’s facades, spaces, structure, components, materials, and artworks. By constructing an alternative history, this exhibition challenges the way we understand and assess the building and might change the way we transform it for the future.

  The 2025 Fitch Colloquium, titled Fragments of the Imagination: Provenance, Preservation, and the Afterlives of Architecture, brings together leading voices in preservation, architecture, art history, museum practice, and the humanities to examine the conceptual, ethical, and artistic stakes of working with architectural fragments. Organized by Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) in collaboration with Provenance Projected the colloquium asks: How might architectural fragments be mobilized to reimagine the built environment; not as static inheritance, but as a site of imaginative transformation? How can institutions such as museums, archives, and landmark commissions be rethought in light of the provenance and circulation of architectural fragments? How does provenance shape disciplinary knowledge and epistemologies within architecture, preservation, art, and beyond?

  Midway between Shetland and Norway, six concrete structures dramatically protrude the water plane, all cylindrical in shape and equipped with lanterns to prevent ship collisions. The shimmering North Sea surface conceals three gigantic underwater foundations sitting on the seabed 100 meters below: two of which are built as clusters of concrete cylinders numbering 23 and 16 respectively, each cylinder measuring 42 meters in height and 20 meters in diameter, and a third formed as a large concrete plinth with a diameter of 101 meters. The drilling holes reach almost to 2 kilometres below the seabed. Today, the structures have no function except for acting as artificial reefs for marine life, as potential depositories for CO2 - and as enigmatic oceanic monuments. With the Frigg field as a point of departure, this paper discusses how the turning of the petroleum industry into heritage challenges concurrent ideas of how to define and manage cultural heritage as well as contemplate on how this might pose an opportunity to rethink the way we can act in the future.

  This exhibition explores the full material provenance of the Henie Onstad Art Centre (HOK), including building materials, technical infrastructure, furniture, display systems, lighting fixtures, maintenance systems and more. By thorough investigation of the archives, and through on-site survey of the building, nine students and two teachers from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) have excavated the ownership history, production history, economy, sourcing, usage and alteration records of its components and materials. By constructing an alternative history of the building, this exhibition challenges the way we understand and assess buildings - and might change the way we transform them for the future.
