ossphone.space investigates how mobile technology might act as a social catalyst for seeking out, discovering and meeting others in the physical world.
Drawing on Hartmut Rosa’s theories of acceleration and resonance, the project explores how the mobile phone might shift from an individual, attention-driven device towards a more collective and relational infrastructure.
The project materialises this inquiry through öss phone, a minimalist smartphone designed for collective experiences and close relations, without social media. Its two core features, Social Mode and Resonance, make social availability and the collective atmosphere of places visible, pointing attention away from the screen and back towards the physical world.

Through the staging of a fictional mobile phone and product universe, the project invited public feedback and reactions as part of the design inquiry. By materialising a speculative alternative, ossphone.space opens up reflection and discussion around the role of mobile technology in social life, and what other technological everyday lives might be imagined.
