Everything we design apps, websites, and interfaces, leaves a digital footprint. Although digital might feel immaterial, it relies on a massive infrastructure: servers, data centers, networks, and screens. All of this uses energy.

Today, 5.5 billion people use the internet daily, often without thinking about how every email sent or search made contributes to digital emissions. And it will still keep growing. It's part of our daily lives, communication, work, services, entertainment. We cant quit, but we can rethink how we design digital experiences.

To deal with it my thesis tries to solve how to develop accsesible tools for designers to deal with sustainability in interaction design?

As a response, I developed a proof-of-concept tool that measures the actual energy consumption of colors used in wireframes and websites, providing estimates in wattage. Through iterations and designer feedback, the tool became more accessible, aiming to reduce friction and clearly demonstrate its value to designers.

Color Advisory © is a Figma plugin that helps designers reduce energy consumption on OLED screens by analyzing and optimizing their color choices directly in their workflow.
