Everything starts with the traditional tea ceremony
This project is a very personal attempt to respond to my anxiety about current reality and my yearning for a poetic life. The entire process connects two seemingly contradictory things: the tea ceremony and artificial intelligence, one rooted in the past and the other pointing toward the future. My struggles remain in the present.
By using AI as both a scenario and a tool, I imagine future architecture as a new ritual space, similar to one found in an ancient Chinese painting, where people gather in nature to drink tea, talk, write poetry, paint, reflect, and create. It is a space where people can reconnect with themselves, others, and nature. This space aims to develop creativity, empathy, taste, and judgment for future needs.
The narrative of scrolls, scattered perspective, rhythm of lines, and the connection between architecture and nature made me want to explore how we can find a modern, or even future-oriented, form of expression through ancient painting?
Architecture is not only about function and form. It can also become a space where people feel life, body, and time.
In this diploma project, I raise several questions: Can traditional housing and office spaces still meet people’s future needs? What kind of architecture can respond to the development of the new AI era? When robots and artificial intelligence take over most of the work we do today, what will be the core competitiveness of human beings?
During the process, I found that robots still cannot truly understand things that cannot be explained by mathematics, data or clear logic. Human feelings, the definitions we create, experiences and stories, subjective judgments, emotions, doubts, mistakes, interpretations, and even a sudden flash of inspiration. Our uniqueness as humans. Maybe these are our true needs in the future.
I have this imagination, perhaps the future living spaces should be like the ancient tea gathering: a space inspires people, and allow us to feel the connections between the self, others, and nature. An experience where creativity, empathy, taste, and judgment would be developed through.
