But in the second group of synonyms, those related to biological reproduction: breeding, multiplying, spawning, procreation, propagation. Positive words. Words associated with life and growth. The reproductions are cuttings—branches gently placed in water, forming new roots before being planted in fresh soil. This is an act of reproduction.

Using 3D scanning, milling, printing, and casting, elements from painter and sculptor Sveinung Svalastoga’s (1881-1938) sculptures are reproduced and embedded within an architectural pavilion. The process resembles musical sampling: selection, distortion, and recomposition generate new narratives. Details are lost, emphasized, or altered, and the traces of digital tools and technical limitations remain visible.

The pavilion altogether is an abstracted reproduction of Svalastoga’s farmyard (tun), consisting of three buildings connected by ascending paths. Reproductions appear as reliefs, columns, and integrated architectural elements in concrete and bronze.
