Project description

Re:Structure is a four-year research project, funded by the Research Council of Norway and led by the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO). The project explores how youth exclusion can be prevented by redesigning municipal services.

Through participatory design research, youth, municipal employees and researchers work together to identify and change the norms, rules and assumptions that contribute to some youth being excluded. Youth participate as co-researchers, drawing on their knowledge about how services intended for all can exclude some. Together with municipal employees, they take part in experimenting with how services can be redesigned in practice. The aim is to develop knowledge and practical approaches that help municipalities create more inclusive services and prevent exclusion before it occurs.

The project is carried out in collaboration with the municipalities of Bærum, Asker and Trondheim, alongside NTNU, NORCE, Oslo University Hospital, KS, Minotenk and Mental Helse Ungdom.
