Background and experience
Enrique Encinas is a design researcher exploring the patterns and textures formed by (other than) humans and technologies through creative, critical and collaborative practices. Recent work centres on un/learning with other-than-humans, from Oslo's river Akerselva and the fruit fly's brain to AI agents, and on designing AI infrastructure from the inside.
Encinas is Associate Professor of Tech x Design at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO), where he leads the research group CRAITR (creative practice, experimental AI and emerging technologies) and teaches artificial intelligence, creative coding and interactive environments. He takes part in MishMash, Norway's national centre for AI and creativity, is Expert Advisor in Emergent Technologies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU), and Experimental AI Lead of Ars Biologica Independent Studies, part of České Budějovice European Capital of Culture 2028. A member of the Uroboros Collective and curator of the Uroboros Festival, Encinas has co-led projects with the European Union Policy Lab, the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) and SpeculativeEDU.

Teaching
I teach artificial intelligence, creative coding and interactive spaces and environments at the Institute of Design, including the master course Creative Practice with Generative AI and Kreativ Kode.
Supervision. I supervise master, diploma and PhD projects that use AI, code and sound as design materials: agents and generative tools in creative practice, AI infrastructure designed from the inside, sonic and more-than-human design (with rivers, insects, ecologies), and live media and performance. I welcome practice based projects that build working and/or experimental things and think critically about who owns and shapes them.
