Background and experience
Claire Dennington is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Design at AHO and a practising designer. Her work spans service design, design-driven innovation and ecosystem design. She is particularly interested in how the cultural, emotional and meaning-making intersect with the technological, systemic and generative.
Through her research, she explores how popular cultural phenomena and trends can be translated into services that reflect contemporary values. She also investigates how creative, experimental and speculative design practices can contribute to change within organisations, institutions and society at large. Currently, she is curious about the inherent, embodied creative process in encounters with AI, as well as how we might design for resistance, friction and reflection in a time run by seamless acceleration.
With over 20 years of experience in industry, interwoven with academia, Claire brings together research-based insight and practical execution. She has collaborated with organisations such as adidas, NorgesGruppen, Viking, MUNCH and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Claire holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from AHO (2007) and a PhD in Service Design from AHO (2021).
