Background and experience
I am a licensed architect, writer and interdisciplinary urban researcher exploring intersections between design, political ecology, critical representation and transnational urbanism. At AHO I am a PhD fellow with the Community Water Systems project, financed jointly by the Research Council of Norway, the New Frontiers in Research Fund (Canada), and the National Science Foundation (USA).
In my PhD I am exploring pastoralism and pastoral landscapes across geographies, with a focus on Sápmi and Turkana, Kenya.
Before coming to AHO I was a senior researcher and project coordinator at the think-tank Bauhaus Earth; I also have experience as an architect working in the US, the Netherlands, Peru, and Germany. I co-founded the Kujenga Collaborative, a nonprofit organization which was invested in promoting resilience through research and design in rural Tanzania. My research and writing in urbanism includes academic writing and editing, curriculum development for African schools of urban planning, and invited keynote lectures and government consulting focusing in particular on topics related to marine spatial planning. I co-founded the Thing Collective, a platform for critical spatial practice, and have collaborated with the MIT Urban Risk Lab as well as the TU Berlin Habitat Unit.
I have a Master of Architecture from MIT.
