Subtle Interaction

Oppegård is the smallest municipality in Akershus and it is a green municipality. Since it is also in the suburb of Oslo and involved in the rapid urbanisation, the transportation in Oppegård mainly depends on vehicles, however, the future plan and orientation is to use the car for the communication with the outside but travel without vehicles in the municipality. In addition to the ecological transportation, the commune wants to take full use of the nature to create qualified recreational experience.

Another problem is that the municipality is facing the urbanisation of the new center, Kolbon, which has been built up in the last two year. With the development and densification, this place will be a really important node of Oppegård. The infrastructure around should keep pace with other developments.

In this project, starting from mapping of the big area down to the specific site, following the finding of problems and opportunities, comes the proposal of the path system connecting Kolbotn and the close station, Myrvoll.

Not only in this project gives the suggestion of opening the inputs to Kolbotnvannet to improve water quality and add oxygen to the lake, but also provide session of general design of different path for different experience. The design includes the suggestion to build a bridge between the shore and peninsular, the use of the property border, the guide to build different kinds of path—in the forest and along the river—and some important details. The path created in the forest is according to the topography and the mapping of the forest in different categories; meanwhile, path along the water is designed according to the shape of the shoreline. In the end, a node of design—the beginning of the path along the water is shown, illustrating how the path is constructed and going and what kind of activities and experience people may have when using it.
