Wenche Volle is a PhD candidate at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
Her research deals with Edvard Munch and modern conception of space and the thesis Munchs rom (Munch’s room) involves Munch’s paintings, exhibitions and texts. Munch’s friendship with the Belgian artist, architect, designer and writer Henry van de Velde plays an important part of her investigation, where German aesthetics and Empathy theory marks the theoretical framework.
Her research interest lies within the fields of iconography, cultural history, art theory and architectural theory. Wenche Volle is an art historian educated at University of Oslo and holds a Cand. Philol in Art History on Leonard Rickhard Melankoli og Modell. Leonard Rickhards Trett modellflybygger I (1984-85) som melankolifremstilling (2004). She has been working as an art critic, curator and writer, and is an adviser with art collections and public art. from 2007-2009 she was curator of Gallery AHO.
