Mark Robert Mansfield is a Doctoral candidate with research in areas of Norwegian modernism, critical theory, and issues of contemporary architectural practice. The working title of his dissertation is Architect Magnus Poulsson: The Plight of Norwegian Modernism. Mansfield is course leader for the international summer program at University of Oslo, teaching courses on the history of Norwegian Art and Norwegian Architecture and Design.
Previously, Mansfield developed Luminaria Inc., a firm of designers and craftsmen specializing in the production and preservation of fine craftsmanship in lighting. Additionally, he established a property development firm specializing in restoration of historic properties which has received local, regional, and state restoration and preservation awards in the United States.
Mansfield holds a Master’s degree in Architectural History and Theory from the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University with the Dimitris Pikionis Award for outstanding achievement. Mansfield received a BA in Communication from the University of Puget Sound, an MBA from the University of Washington, and pursued studies in Architecture History at the University of Oslo.
