Diploma Supplement
Upon graduation, all students receive attached to their diploma and transcript of records a Diploma Supplement, written in English, explaining and confirming the contents of the diploma. In addition, the Diploma Supplement contains an explanation of the Norwegian educational and grading system, as stated by the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT).
The purpose of the supplement is to provide sufficient independent data to improve the international transparency and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.) It is designed to provide a description of the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies that were pursued and successfully completed by the individual named on the original qualification to which the supplement is appended.
The issuing of diploma supplements upon graduation is mandatory, pursuant to Act no. 15 of April 1st, 2005 relating to Universities and Colleges, point 53.1.
AHO issues the Diploma Supplement subject to the template in the electronic student registration systems at Norwegian higher education institutions, FS (the Common Student Registration System).
The Diploma Supplement is issued automatically and free of charge for all students upon graduation.
