Student films in Tromsø

In relation to “The 2011 Year of Architecture”, Northern Norway's Association of Architects  invites to the screening of four short films made by students on the course "Architecture and Film: Body and space morphology" at AHO last autumn.

The films are shown at the Verdensteatret i Tromsø, Saturday 02.04.2011, at 2 pm. Local sponsors are Tromsø Kunsforening, Troms Fylkeskultursenter and Kunstakademiet.

The four films were made within a few days in autumn 2010, and feature the students’ personal descriptions and illustrations on the properties of ‘Body’ and ‘Space’ and an interpretation on the subject of ‘Duration’. Each of the films are containing and showing one or several architectural spaces that derived from a discussion on what architectural space might be about in contemporary times. The students, previously not skilled in the use of video and filmmaking tools yet probably well accommodated to operate within complex fields and tools of information and communication, are the contemporary eyes to see with.

Teachers on the course are professor Rolf Gerstlauer and research fellow Mattias Ekman. Read more about the course.

2011 - Year of Architecture
The Year of Architecture is a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Association of Norwegian Architects, which gathers a number of different events throughout the country. The overall theme is "room for change" focusing on which changes are happening in society and how this changes the role architecture plays and how architecture can respond to the challenges.
