Welcome to a new academic year

I wish to express my deepest sympathy with those affected by the attacks in Oslo and on Utøya.

AHO is, after what we have been able to establish, not directly affected as none of our students, employees' children or employees are injured or killed. But everyone have felt involved. Many were in Oslo when the explosion occurred or know friends or friends' children are injured or killed. The whole tragedy affects the situation at AHO as elsewhere in the Norwegian society.

Our matriculation ceremony Friday 19 August will therefore also be a commemoration of the victims of the terrorist attacks.

This autumn we have admitted 90 new students to first year courses, 43 students to Masters programs in architecture, design and landscaping, and 38 new exchange students. The new Masters students represent 19 different nationalities.

Apart from the illness in some key employees in the faculty and administration all seem to be good at AHO. Despite the events that have shocked our society everything is in place for a brilliant academic year for students and researchers at AHO.
