Ny stor NFR-tildeling til prosjektet

Large research grant to FTH and OCCAS

The research project Place and Displacement: Exhibiting Architecture has received funding from the Norwegian Research Council from 2011-2014 with Prof. Thordis Arrhenius as project leader.

Investigates diplays of architecture
Place and Displacement: Exhibiting Architecture investigates various practices of displaying architecture, both in historical and contemporary contexts.

Two closely interlinked strands organise the project. One considers preservation as a form of curation and displacement, the other focuses on architectural collections and their economies of validation and display. Together they study processes of displacement in relation to collecting, museums, preservation, and exhibition practices.

International OCCAS project
The project is hosted by AHOs Insitute of Form, Theory and History as part of the newly established Oslo Center of Critical Architectural Studies (OCCAS), including a wide international network. Senior researchers are professors Thordis Arrhenius and Mari Lending (AHO) whereas finacne has been providet for four three-month sabbaticals for senior researchers: Jorge Otero-Pailos, Columbia University, Wallis Miller, University of Kentucky, Victor Plahte-Tschudi, The Norwegian institute in Rome and Ola Storsletten, NIKU).

Upcoming Ph.D fellowships
In connection with the research project AHO/ FTH will announce two Ph.D. fellowships to begin autumn 2011.
