Received special mention in Milan

Søfting and Tøftum was invited to participate in this years Salone Satellite, a part of the iSalone fair presenting young and innovative designers at the start of their careers.

The two designers, working together in SHE design studio, participated at the exhibition with a furniture collection based on their new textile material "Between". The material and its various uses was developed as part of their final diploma project at AHO autumn 2009.

The hope was that participating in Milan would help the girls making connections and finding a producer for their design concept. This wish may now come true:

Since the first edition of Salone Satellite in 1998, the leading German design magazine Design Report has awarded its Design Report Award to selected new designers at the fair. One designer is selected as "Best designer" and receives a prize of €5000, whereas three additional designers is selected for "special mention". The aim is to help the new designers making connections and receive press attention, and such stand out amongst the more than 400 contributors to the fair.

The award was presented at the Salone Satellite on April 15th. The jury, led by editor in chief  Lars Quadejacob, was impressed by the variety in SHE designs use of their new textile material.

This is the second year in a row that a student connected to AHO is awarded by Design report. in 2009, former student Daniel Rybakken was named Best designer and received the prize of €5000.
